The proud state of West Virginia is home to many who have chosen to serve our country in the armed services.  Unfortunately, there is often a large price to pay for experiencing the harsh reality of war  As a result, some veterans return to our country suffering from mental illness and seeking refuge in unhealthy choices leading to addiction and ultimately homelessness.   Volunteers of America serves homeless veterans in rural communities in West Virginia, linking them with employment training, affordable housing and other community resources.

Our work in West Virginia touches the mind, body, heart — and ultimately the spirit — of our nations’ veterans, integrating our compassion with highly effective programs so that these individuals develop not only the skills necessary for independence, but also the self-esteem to remain so.
